ABOUT ME
Monét Ravenell tells stories about women who refuse to stay small—psychological, intimate, and charged with emotional truth. An award-winning writer/director recognized by Final Draft’s Big Break, Women of Color Filmmakers, Shore Scripts, and festivals including Micheaux and Matrix Film Festival (Best Female Director), she creates films where identity, desire, and inner conflict collide on screen.
Her work is driven by a fascination with the inner worlds women navigate: the beliefs we inherit, the identities we try on, and the moments that finally push us toward who we’re meant to become. Monét’s films blend emotional precision with visual clarity, favoring grounded performances, character-forward storytelling, and tension that simmers just beneath the surface.
Her short film The Outside, developed through the Women of Color Filmmakers Fellowship, won Best Film and went on to screen at Brilliant Women in Film, Urban Dreams Mental Health Film Festival, and Horror Haus. She later earned Best Female Director at the Matrix Film Festival and continued building a body of work centered on psychological truth and transformation.
As a screenwriter, Monét has placed in Final Draft’s Big Break (Best Comedy TV Pilot), Shore Scripts (Best Drama Short), and tied for First Place in the Emerging Black Screenwriters Program, where her pages were performed at UTA.
When she’s not directing or writing, she teaches artists and multi-passionate creatives how to monetize their ideas so they can build the creative and financial freedom to pursue the work they truly want to make.
